Dr. Jodi ShaeferDirector

 Dr. Shaefer’s involvement with FIMR started in the early 90’s through the Association of SIDS and Infant Mortality Programs (ASIP). As a NFIMR consultant, she has provided educational programs on the FIMR process and bereavement support.  Her multiple NFIMR publications include cross cultural expressions of grief and loss, annotated bibliography on bereavement, and home visiting.  She brings skills in service delivery, education, and research, including extensive local, state, national, and international experience in program implementation and evaluation. She was the Director for the Center for Infant and Child Loss, a Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene program and was president of ASIP.  She was on the original NICHD work group that recommended back sleeping for infants to reduce the risk of SIDS.


Hanan Abdulahi, Program Specialist

Hanan Abdulahi, MPP, is the Program Specialist for the NFIMR team. Specifically, she oversees the day-to-day logistics of running the National FIMR resource center and maintains the program website, along with NFIMR’s social media accounts and listserv. Ms. Abdulahi has a Master's degree in Public Policy with an emphasis in Health Policy from George Mason University and a Bachelor's of Arts degree from the University of Virginia. Her previous experience includes working in housing counseling, community health and child care policy.
