Institute of Medicine (IOM) releases recommendations for preventive health services for women

A new report from the IOM recommends that eight preventive health services for women be added to the services that health plans will cover at no cost to patients under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA). Recommendations include providing a full range of contraceptive education, counseling, and methods; and services for pregnant women including screening for gestational diabetes and lactation counseling and equipment.
